Laurence Greig is the director of Wide Span Sheds Taranaki and leads the sale and construction of 'no-compromise steel buildings' across the rural and dairy sector, the lifestyle property sector and the commercial and industrial segments in the region. He owns and operates Wide Span Sheds Taranaki Ltd and Wide Span Sheds Construction Ltd.

Laurence is a Certified Company Director with the NZ Institute of Directors and a Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional with the International Association of Risk and Compliance Professionals. He has over 30 years experience in the private and government sectors in the area of strategic management, change and innovation and over the past 7 years has run a successful natural pharmaceutical company in New Zealand.

Planning & Building in Taranaki

This region in the west of New Zealand's North Island is administered by the Taranaki Regional Council. If you are planning to construct a new building, your first point of call really should be to get in touch with this local organisation.

In most cases a Building Consent will be required, unless it has been listed as exempt by Schedule 1 of the Building Act 2004. Regardless of whether or not a building consent is required, all building work must comply with the Building Code. A Building Consent is written approval from the Council to carry out building work as defined in the Building Act 2004. 

Your local council will only grant Building Consent when it is satisfied that the building work will comply with the Building Code. It is the owners responsibility to obtain a building consent, and to get a Code of Compliance Certificate when the work is completed.
